If you are interested in a scenic float trip, the Skagit River offers beautiful scenery, with opportunities to see some of the abundant wildlife in our valley. Although Bald Eagles can be seen year round, the best eagle watching season is from early November to mid-February with eagle numbers peaking from Late November through the first week of January.

Bald Eagle

Photo Opportunities abound during your trip down the river, and we pride ourselves in doing our best to get you those much desired close up shots. We do many professional Photography trips during the season, with some very spectacular results, our stable hard bottom boats makes for an excellent platform, and guides that work very hard at getting you the shot you are looking for.

EagleAvailable year round is our half day scenic float. Your trip begins a couple miles Below Rockport WA, where we will meet and transport you up river 7 miles to the boat launch at Swift Creek. From there you will drift down the Skagit which meanders through the middle of the Bald Eagle Sanctuary eventually ending up at our meeting point below Rockport.

Here at Skagit River Guide Service, we believe that enjoying the Skagit begins with riding in comfort.. Our boats have propane HEAT for those cold winter days as well as high backed cushion seats. Floating the Skagit is a great family outing and we encourage children from toddlers on up.

We are fully licensed and insured and have the appropriate permits from the U.S. forestry service to operate on the Wild and Scenic Skagit river. All safety gear is provided and your guides are certified in C.P.R. and first aid.

Testimonials

Wayne, Thanks again for that awesome trip yesterday! Both of us got some very impressive close ups of those birds fighting over the fish on the gravel bar.. Great job of getting us close to them with out disturbing their feeding! Let us know if you would like some of the pics to incorporate into your web site. We really enjoyed our trip and will definitely be seeing you in the future.

Hi Wayne, just wanted to let you know that we had an awesome trip on the river with you. We REALLY appreciated the fact that you had those propane heaters in the boat! This was the third trip For Scott and I down the Skagit, and what a difference yours was compared to riding in a Skagit rafting trip. We are looking forward to our trip with you next year. Thanks again.

I have used Skagit River Guide Service for the last three years, and highly recommend Wayne Ackerlund. His trips are safe comfortable, and 300% better than a Skagit rafting tour. He will do his very best to get you in the right spot for Photography of these magnificent birds.

Mr Ackerlund,

My wife and I were out with you this last weekend for a Skagit river Bald Eagle float. I’m not someone that usually takes time to send thank you emails, but we were very impressed with your service, and just wanted to say thank you for making Eden’s birthday present a special memory. We are looking forward to fishing with you this Spring, and will be back in touch soon to book a date for King salmon sometime in May.

Hey Wayne,

What a fantastic trip! Never thought we would be so comfortable on such a wet miserable day, and seeing Robert hook that Steelhead was just to cool. We will definitely be recommending you to our friends for Skagit river eagle trips. Thanks again for accommodating us on such short notice, I’m glad my parents got to attend before returning to Wyoming.

Thank you so much for your services as our eagle tour guide yesterday...it was fabulous...Not only did we get to view eagles, but you were very knowledgeable about the area as well, and with your fabulous fishing skills we caught a fish also. We will recommend you highly. For people from the eastern part of the country you really showed us a true piece of this beautiful state.
The “ceda” trees were beautiful
Thank you again

Wayne,

Alex, Julia and I want to thank you for a fabulous day on the Skagit River, it will be a family memory we will share forever. You really went far beyond the Bald Eagle tour and we thank you. So great to see these majestic birds and view a beaver dam and listen to the quiet and hear the sound of the rapids and smell the sweet fresh air. The drift boat made us feel like real fishermen and when you handed Alex the fishing rod, well that put a smile on his face for the rest of the day and the catch and release of 3 beautiful fish, wow. He was actually getting private fishing lessons from a pro and he knew it. You gave much more than we paid for. Again Thank you.
